Florida Wanted Persons Database - Public Access System

The database contains Florida warrant information as reported to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement by law enforcement agencies throughout the state and authorized for release to the public. FDLE and the reporting agencies strongly recommend that no citizen take any individual action based on this information. This information is not to be used as a confirmation or probable cause that any warrant is active. Information contained herein should not be relied upon for any type of legal action. FDLE cannot represent that this information is current, active, or complete. You should verify that a warrant is active with your local law enforcement agency or with the reporting agency. [Wanted persons may use false identification, which could cause the warrant to contain a name, date of birth, or other information not belonging to the subject of the warrant. Such false information may or may not be designated as an alias on the warrant.]

Please note that the actual physical characteristics of an individual may differ from those returned by a query to this site. Differences may occur due to several factors. The person may have purposely changed his/her hair color/style, eye color (with colored contact lenses), facial hair, new tattoos etc. Also, enough time may have elapsed that the person's height may be greater and weight may have changed. If the contributing agency entering the record does not have exact height and weight, a minimum weight of "50 pounds" and a minimum height of "4 feet" may be used. These displays do not mean the subject is actually four feet tall and weighs only 50 pounds. In addition, the absence of information in an entry such as "scars, marks, tattoos" does not mean the person does not have an item (such as a scar, mark or tattoo). It merely means the contributing agency was not aware of such an item or marking on the person.

Florida Sexual Offenders And Predators Database

Through the Public Safety Information Act of 1997, Florida became the first state to list sexual predators and offenders on the Internet and to make the same information available through a 24-hour/day hotline. This Act allowed the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to give the public access to information important to their ability to protect themselves and their families against sexual offenders. Since that time, Florida has continued to lead the nation in legislating strong registration and related sexual offender laws, and effectively implementing these laws through the dedicated efforts of criminal justice partners across the state.

At the time the Public Safety Information Act passed, Florida had 471 sexual predators and approximately 8,000 sexual offenders listed in the database. Today, ten years later, that number has grown to more than 6,400 registered predators and 38,000 registered offenders. Despite the increased volume of registrants, Florida has responded quickly and favorably to the changing demands of state and federal laws as well as the logistical requirements that come with this much larger group of registrants.

From the beginning, Florida has benefited from great support and cooperation from all of our State's criminal justice partners at the local, state, and national levels in implementing a system of sexual predator/offender registration and verification which continues to ensure that important information and updates are available to citizens and criminal justice partners as soon as possible. Indeed, it is the continuing spirit of cooperation among all criminal justice partners and the citizens of Florida that ensures that Florida's registry is as up-to-date and accurate as possible, despite the great challenges to the success of this demanding process. Our state enjoys national recognition as the leader and a model in the strength of our law and in the successful partnership that makes those laws work.

Most importantly, because of these integrated efforts, Florida's public is advised of potential predators/offenders in a timely fashion, and predators and offenders are more closely monitored and controlled. Ultimately, this information makes Florida's citizens especially our children much safer.

Florida - Career Offender Search

As of January 1, 2003, under the Florida Career Offender Registration Act, a select group of convicted felons, the "worst-of-the-worst", are required to register their residences with law enforcement and a state registry maintained by FDLE , the Career Offender Application for Statewide Tracking (COAST). These offenders, by virtue of their histories of offenses, present a threat to the public and to communities. This registration law will assist law enforcement agencies in timely apprehending a career offender, if a career offender engages again in criminal conduct. Registration is not a punishment, but merely a status. Failure of a Career Offender to register their residence is a third degree felony. Career Offenders are individuals who have been designated by a court as a habitual violent felony offender, a violent career criminal, or a three-time violent felony offender under s. 775.084 or as a prison releasee reoffender under s. 775.082(9) AND who are serving or have been released from sanction in the State of Florida on or after July 1, 2002.

The public may call the FDLE Career Offender Unit direct at 1-(850) 410-8780 to inquire about Career Offender registration laws or registrants in their area. Registration information is public record and may be released to the public. Law enforcement agencies may inform the community and the public of the presence of a career offender in the community. Upon notification of the presence of a career offender, the sheriff of the county or the chief of police of the municipality where the career offender establishes or maintains a permanent or temporary residence may notify the community and the public of the presence of the career offender in a manner deemed appropriate by the sheriff or the chief of police.

The sheriff or the police chief may coordinate the community and public notification efforts with FDLE. Statewide notification to the public is authorized, as deemed appropriate by local law enforcement personnel and FDLE.

IMMUNITY.--FDLE, the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV), the Department of Corrections (FDC), any law enforcement agency in this state, and the personnel of those departments; an elected or appointed official, public employee, or school administrator; or an employee, agency, or any individual or entity acting at the request or upon the direction of any law enforcement agency is immune from civil liability for damages for good faith compliance with the requirements of the Florida Career Offender Registration Act or for the release of information under the act and shall be presumed to have acted in good faith in compiling, recording, reporting, or releasing the information. The presumption of good faith is not overcome if a technical or clerical error is made by FDLE, DHSMV, FDC, the personnel of those departments, or any individual or entity acting at the request or upon the direction of any of those departments in compiling or providing information, or if information is incomplete or incorrect because a career offender fails to report or falsely reports his or her current place of permanent or temporary residence.

Florida - Crime Stoppers

The Florida Association of Crime Stoppers (FACS) is a private, not for profit organization that provides networking and support for Crime Stoppers programs throughout the state of Florida. FACS also provides financial and technical assistance to communities that wish to start a new program in their counties.

FACS was founded in 1981 as a networking organization for a few, fledgling Crime Stoppers organizations such as Central Florida Crime Line and the Crime Stoppers Council of Broward County. Today, the Florida Association of Crime Stoppers, a not for profit organization, represents twenty-eight Crime Stoppers programs throughout the state of Florida. FACS member programs provide Crime Stoppers services to 52 of the 67 counties within Florida. FACS continues to be a leader in the national and international Crime Stoppers community.

In 1998, the FACS organization spearheaded the creation of the Crime Stoppers Trust Fund, which is funded by surcharges on criminal case fines. The Crime Stoppers Trust Fund, which on average collects approximately five million dollars annually, provides the much needed funding for individual Crime Stoppers programs through a grant program that is overseen by the Office of the Attorney General.
